Setting up a non-Entity modem

If you've got a modem that you didn't buy from Entity and want to connect it to your broadband, you can use these settings to get going.

You'll first need to check your modem's guide to ensure it is capable of connecting directly to Entity Fibre or broadband. (Some networking devices can only distribute Internet in 'Bridge Mode', so you might still need to use your Entity Modem.)

Modem setup settings

  • Use your modem's user guide to find where to change your modem's settings. Adjust the settings to match the following:
    1. Username:username@dsl.encom.nz (Please contact us if you don’t remember)
    2. Password: password (Please contact us if you don’t remember)
    3. Connection Type: PPPoA
    4. Encapsulation: PPPoA VC-MUX
    5. VPI: 0
    6. VCI: 100
    7. MTU: 1492 or 1500

  • Use your modem's user guide to find where to change your modem's settings. Adjust the settings to match the following:
    1. Username:username@dsl.encom.nz (Please contact us if you don’t remember)
    2. Password: password (Please contact us if you don’t remember)
    3. Connection Type: PPPoE
    4. WAN Service Type: Internet_TR069
    5. 802.1Q VLAN ID: 10
    6. Priority: 0
    7. IP Protocol: Dual - IPv4 & IPv6
    8. Auth mode: AUTO
    9. Dial-up modem: Always on
    10. MRU Size: 1492
    11. MTU Size: 1490

  • Use your modem's user guide to find where to change your modem's settings. Adjust the settings to match the following:
    1. Username:username@fibre.encom.nz (Please contact us if you don’t remember)
    2. Password: password (Please contact us if you don’t remember)
    3. Connection Mode\Multiplexing Type: VLAN MUX
    4. WAN Service Type: PPPoE
    5. 802.1Q VLAN ID: 10
    6. Priority: 0
    7. IP Protocol: Dual - IPv4 & IPv6
    8. Auth mode: AUTO
    9. MTU Size: 1492
